Progress report/ Molecular Genetics, NIG Aussie Suzuki

Destination country : USA
Receiving univ./institute : Wasworth Center
Period of study : From 10/09/2007 to 08/12/2005
Date of report : 25/10/2007

Progress of the class/ research
I'm learning Electron Microscopy (EM) technique. Some problems were happened, but now we were solved these problems (for instance; Growth of some mutants cells I took were very bad, and Contrast of my samples was very low, and so on ).
Especially, I'm practicing trimming, alignment, cutting hard. Trimming is to make less than 5mm on all side trapezium, and alignment is to parallel between the surface of sample and a diamond knife. Cutting is the most difficult work in EM, we have to cut 100nm sections and pick up these sections on a grid.

Living conditions
I think it is absolutely not enough to live in USA for 3 months only $5,000 (including flight tickets and so on)!!
Without this problem, everything is good. I live in a share house. The neighbors are good and very kind to me. My house is a little bit far from the laboratory, but there are stores and a laundry near my house.

Other things to be reported
Nothing in this month.
