Applicants must inquire to the department where you wish to study at least one month prior to the submission of a formal application. It is highly recommended to inform departments or candidate supervisors of your interest regarding your eligibility and research plan prior to the submission of a formal application.

Application Materials

The formal application must include the following:

  1. A completed application form.
  2. Curriculum Vitae.
  3. Transcript of undergraduate work.
  4. Certificate of Graduation.
  5. Statement of the applicant's purpose.
  6. Documents that indicate the applicant's research ability (papers, reports, etc.)
  7. Payment of a ¥30,000 non-refundable application fee.
  8. A copy of the Alien Registration Certificate (for applicants residing in Japan).
  9. A copy of the applicant's official birth certificate, family register, civil register, or certificate of domiciliary registration issued by the governmen of the country in which the applicant holds citizenship. (For applicant's residing abroad.)

    * Some departments may require more specific documents than those mentioned above as well as additional materials. Please inquire to the department where you wish to study about required documents, forms and notes before submitting the above formal application.

Selection for Admission

Selection will be made on the basis of written examinations consisting of an English exam, a short essay and an oral examination.
Applicants can take all examinations in English.
