I am very glad and would like to congratulate Professor Ohsumi for winning the 2016 Nobel Prize. As a student from another department, I think this is a very proud moment for us; it demonstrates that SOKENDAI can conduct world-class research, and this will motivate us students very much.

I am very happy to hear the news that Professor Ohsumi won the Nobel Prize this year. I am very proud to be a student of SOKENDAI. I am a graduate from a school within the University that has had a few Nobel Prize winners in the past. However, this time, I feel I am closer to this Nobel Prize winner. One of my friends is even riding Professor Ohsumi’s second-hand bicycle. I hope I can meet him, perhaps bump into him, in Okazaki Campus.

When I heard the news that Ohsumi sensei won the Nobel Prize, I felt very happy and proud that one of the SOKENDAI professors received such a prestigious prize. It also motivates and inspires me. Since he was part of SOKENDAI, I hope that he will visit our institute and that I can learn about his research and interact with him. I am looking forward to it.

My field of study has nothing to do with what Prof. Ohsumi is doing, but, as someone interested in all kinds of scientific related developments, I can easily picture the importance of the work he has done for humanity. Thanks to him, we were able to understand more on how autophagy works, which is apparently considered by some as one of the cornerstone that could lead humanity toward the path of immortality.
In the past, I have always been admirative towards Nobel Prize winners. But until recently, I’ve never felt any real feeling of proximity or excitation. As a SOKENDAI student, I was able to feel such a link for the first time. Belonging to the same university as Prof. Ohsumi, not only makes me proud, but also motivates me to do more in my own field of study.
This Nobel Price bodes well for the future of SOKENDAI. Let’s hope that there will be more to come in the future.

It is very exciting to hear the news that Ohsumi sensei won the Nobel Prize. I think one of the most important aspects is that the large projects of Ohsumi sensei’s work were done during his time in SOKENDAI. It actually means that the university and the experiments at the institute offer the facilities for all kinds of resources that support such research, which leads to the winning of awards and prizes. It means that students can also benefit from the equipment and resources that we now possess and the legacy provided by Ohsumi sensei and other excellent supervisors.

Yesterday, my phone rang when it sent a message to my phone, and I saw that Professor Ohsumi received the Nobel Prize. I just think that it is truly good news for Japan. But when I went to Wikipedia, I saw his affiliation with SOKENDAI. I was surprised. Wow, a SOKENDAI professor won the Nobel Prize! I’m very impressed that SOKENDAI could provide such a good environment and a suitable atmosphere to help a professor win the Nobel Prize. It is an honor not only for the facility but also for the people who work at SOKENDAI. So yes, in general, I just feel that I would like to congratulate Japan and also SOKENDAI, especially Professor Ohsumi, because of his outstanding achievement.

I only recently learned that one of our professors from SOKENDAI won the Nobel Prize. In fact, I feel very happy and proud. Yes, it really is nice that one of the professors received the Nobel Prize. Maybe it will encourage me to do more, good-quality research and get good results. Yes it really does.
