2010 Sokendai Lecture [ International Communication Program]- English Presentation Skills Seminar-Call for participants

               Sokendai and JSPS jointly organize “JSPS Summer Program” which provides opportunities for over a hundred young pre- and post-doctoral researchers from North America and Europe to experience Japanese culture and research. Sokendai hosts the Orientation Session including Japanese language training, Special Lectures on Japanese Science and Japanese Culture Experience, and Poster Session for JSPS Summer Program.

 

Sokendai thinks that it is a good opportunity for Sokendai students to have “International communication Program” at the same time with “JSPS Summer Program Orientation Session” to interact with the JSPS researchers from various countries.  Therefore, we welcome you to join this “International communication Program”.  In this program, English Presentation Skills Seminar specially designed for Sokendai students are provided.  You will also join some of the JSPS programs such as Welcome Party, Special Lectures on Japanese Science and Japanese Culture Experience, and Poster Discussion Session.  The participants are supported with tuition waiver, transportation and lodging fee reimbursed later according to the Sokendai regulations. When you are recognized all days participation, one (1) Academic credit will be granted as "Sokendai lecture”.

Research abstract will be proofread by native teachers from Sokendai consignment agent; Phoenix Associates Co., LTD. before the courses, so that take care not to be late for the deadline. We will inform each applicant of more details later.

About Poster Session:

* Request for your poster: Participants are required to create a research poster in advance to participate in the Poster Session with JSPS fellows in English.  

Each of you will have a poster board (Height: 1200mm×Width: 900mm) on which to place your poster. Please make the one that it is possible to put it on the board, any size and pages available even if it is not an A0. Print your poster before coming to the Hayama Campus and bring it with you. We do NOT provide a printing service for the posters.

* Request for your abstract: Sokendai will make your abstracts edit to distribute "Abstracts booklet" with JSPS fellows. (A sample   abstract format is appended). Every abstract will be proofread and advised by native teachers.

*Abstract rules:

1. The abstract should be typed in English.

2. The abstract should be submitted electronically as an attachment of "rtf" file or you may also e-mail as a “rtf” text in the body of the e-mail. Mathematical symbols, special formats, and special technical terms should be avoided.

3. The abstract should be maximum 200 words.

4. Information required in the abstract: 1. Title, 2. Presenting author and co-author names, 3. Affiliations of authors.
