【Call for Participants】SOKENDAI Freshman Course (Second Semester 2025)

SOKENDAI Freshman Course (Second Semester 2025) will be held from Tuesday, October 7 to Friday, October 10, 2025.

The Freshman Course is an intensive course mainly for newly-enrolled students of SOKENDAI.
This course has two objectives;
(1) to acquire basic knowledge and skills required for all researchers, and
(2) to understand the SOKENDAI's broad range of intellectual fields, and create a network beyond your research field.

The course consists of fhe following three sections;
"Exploring Diversity in Academia (EDA)"
"Researchers and Society" and
"Communication Skills for Researchers"

October 7 (Tue) to October 9 (Thu) [face-to-face classes]
Conference Room "Isshiki" at LOFOS Shonan※
※a five-minute walk from SOKENDAI Hayama Campus ( https://www.gakuin.gr.jp/hotel/ )

October 10 (Fri) [on-demand classes]※
Any locations where you have access to the Internet
※October 10 is designated the day for intensive on-demand classes; however, if taking on-demand classes that day is difficult, you have until November 30 to watch the classes and complete the assignments by then.

2. Requirements and Credits:
● Number of Credits:  Two (2) credits
● Grading:  Contribution to the class, submitted assignments and reports
● Language:  English except for “Communication Skills for Researchers” (English or Japanese elective)
The ability to carry out discussions in English is a must.
● Targeted Year:   New and Current Students (1st- to 5th-year students)
