Class Period of the First Semester, 2020

Response to the New Coronavirus (COVID-19) Outbreak:

Class Period of the First Semester, 2020

In the current status of the domestic and worldwide spreads of New Coronavirus (COVID-19), SOKENDAI has set new guidelines for the class period of the First Semester, 2020, in order to give utmost priority to safety and health of every member consisting of the University.

For the time being, SOKENDAI's academic calendar of the First Semester, 2020 remains unchanged (Period of Classes: April 13 to August 5). However, responding to the situation in each Parent Institute or its surrounding community, moving down the starting date of classes or other necessary and flexible measures may be taken place. Decision to change or not to change will be made by each Parent Institute/Department.

SOKENDAI has instructed each Parent Institute/Department to take into consideration the following points upon making its decision:

  • To take relevant measures to secure students' learning opportunities, if the starting date of classes is moving down.
  • To give considerations not to cause students disadvantages for learning, such as by altering class timetable or methods of delivery of lectures.
  • To make efforts to prevent infection and spreads of infection by delivering lectures remotely (e.g., online classes) in place of face-to-face classes, or other means.

* For Department of Space and Astronautical Science, School of Physical Sciences, the classes of first semester will start no earlier than May 7. For the other Departments, please follow the announcement from each department.
