【Event Report】RCIES x MMBS: held the 2nd Student exchange meeting
On December 13th, 2023, the Research Center for Integrative Evolutionary Science (RCIES) and Misaki Marine Biological Station (MMBS), Univ. of Tokyo held the 2nd Student Exchange Meeting at Misaki. Attendees from RCIES were 12 graduate students, 3 researchers, and 19 faculty members.
The meeting was started with greetings from Prof. Dr. Miura, Director of MMBS, and Prof. Dr. Kutsukake, Chair of Integrative Evolutionary Science (IES). The members of RCIES were given a tour of the marine museum “Sea Showcase” and aquarium in the MMBS education building.
“Sea Showcase” exhibits materials that tell us a long history of research activities of the MMBS and various aquatic specimens collected in Misaki. They also looked lots of tanks in the aquarium where colorful and various aquatic creatures are kept.

The Q & A session for each presentation was so active that we felt there wasn’t enough time. It lasted until just before departure time of MMBS. We hope this exchanging event that began last year will continue in the future, and lead to new research activities and collaborations.
