The Graduate University for Advanced Studies recognizes the importance of protecting personal information in this advanced information communication society. In the website of SOKENDAI ( https://www.soken.ac.jp/ ), the University observes all laws in handling personal information, and endeavors to protect personal information under the following policy, along with the Graduate University for Advanced Studies Personal Information Protection Rules (hereinafter referred to as the "Rules").

Obtaining and possessing personal information

SOKENDAI shall obtain personal information through legal and fair procedures.
SOKENDAI shall only obtain personal information in the case of requiring such information for carrying out duties of the University and further by specifying that purpose of obtaining the personal information as much as possible, and shall not possess the personal information exceeding the scope required to fulfill the specified purpose.
In the event of obtaining personal information, the purpose of using the obtained information and the identity of the person who will administer the obtained information shall be provided.

Use of personal information

SOKENDAI shall not use the personal information other than for the purpose shown when obtaining the information and shall not provide it to a third party. However, this may not apply for cases required by law.
SOKENDAI shall not provide personal information to a third party without prior approval. However, this may not apply for cases specified by law.
In the event in which SOKENDAI provides personal information to a third party as required by law or entrusts duties related to handling of the personal information to a third party, SOKENDAI shall strictly investigate the security of the personal information, the ability of managing the personal information, and like aspects of that third party, and appropriately monitor the handing of the personal information.

Management of personal information

SOKENDAI shall take appropriate information security measures against unauthorized access, computer viruses, etc., in order to maintain the accuracy of the possessed personal information and to prevent any loss, breakage, manipulation and/or disclosure of the personal information.
Moreover, when SOKENDAI asks for personal information through the SOKENDAI website, SOKENDAI shall endeavor to secure safety through use of encryption using Secure Sockets Layer (SSL). Information sent between the web server of the University website and the browser used by the customer is protected under SSL.

Disclosure, correction, termination of use and deletion of personal information

SOKENDAI confirms that the owner of the personal information has the right to ask for the disclosure, correction, termination of use, deletion and the like of their own personal information, and such a request shall be dealt with promptly, as stipulated in the Rules. Security

In the case in which SOKENDAI asks for personal information through the University website, SOKENDAI endeavors to secure safety by use of encryption using Secure Sockets Layer (SSL). Information sent between the web server of our website and the browser used by the customer is protected by use of SSL.

Establishment, enforcement, maintenance, and improvement of Personal Information Protection Rules

Other than what is specified in this policy, protection of personal information within SOKENDAI shall be appropriately implemented under the Rules.
