Certificate Issuance Service

The Certificate Issuance Service allows students to apply for official certificates online, pay issuance fees electronically, and receive certificates via printing, postal delivery, or online submission. The service can be accessed using a PC, smartphone, or tablet.

User Guide for Alumni

  • The issuance fee is 500 yen per copy.
  • For certificates issued at convenience stores, a printing fee of 60 yen per copy is required.
  • For certificates sent by mail, postage fees will apply.

Print at a Convenience Store (Japan Only)

Certificates can be printed at major convenience stores in Japan such as 7-Eleven, FamilyMart, and Lawson/Ministop. After completing payment, a print number will be sent to you by email. Enter this number at the store’s multi-function printer before the print deadline.

Online Submissionns

You to send certificates electronically to companies or institutions. Enter the recipient information and email address, complete payment, and submit the application. The recipient will receive a secure link by email.

POPITA

Certificates issued at convenience stores are embedded with a digital watermark (POPITA). Copies cannot be used.
*POPITA (a digital watermark) is a registered trademark of NTT WEST, Inc.

(Note)The Ministry of Foreign Affairs may not accept certificates printed at convenience stores. If you need to submit a certificate to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, please consult the Program Office.

SOKENDAI issues Certificates listed in the table below. If any other certificate is required, please contact the section given at the bottom of this page and inquire if the intended certificate can be issued.

Certifies the applicant's academic record for the courses completed at SOKENDAI.
Certificate of Graduation
(Shuryou-Shomeisho)
Certifies that the applicant completed a doctoral program and was conferred a degree of Doctor of Philosophy by SOKENDAI.
Certificate of Conferment of a Master's Degree
(Shushi-Gakui-Shutoku-Shomeisho)
Certifies that the applicant earned a master's degree from SOKENDAI.
Certificate of Withdrawal from the University
(Taigaku-Shomeisho)
Certifies that the applicant withdrew from SOKENDAI.
Certificate of Withdrawal with Credits
(Tan'i-Shutoku-Taigaku-Shomeisho)
Certifies that the applicant withdrew from SOKENDAI after satisfying SOKENDAI's requirements for completing a doctoral program (the applicant was enrolled for a period of 3 or 5 years or longer and earned the credits required by each department).
Certificate of Leave of Absence
(Kyugaku-Shomeisho)
Certifies that the applicant is taking a leave of absence.
*For regular students on leave of absence.
Certificate of Period of Registration
(Zaiseki-Kikan-Shomeisho)
Certifies the applicant's registered period at SOKENDAI until the day of withdrawal.
Certificate of Japanese Government Scholarship Student Certifies that the applicant is a Japanese Government Scholarship student.
*For the recipients of the said scholarship only.
Certificate of Doctoral Degree
(Gakui-Shutoku-Shomeisho)
Certifies that the applicant earned a doctoral degree from SOKENDAI.
*For Doctor by Dissertation (Ronbun-Hakase) only.

*Students who wish to receive certificates (excluding Academic Transcript and Certificate of Enrollment) by email should select “Postal Delivery” under “Issue Certificate.” When entering the mailing address information, please indicate your E-mail address in the “Remarks” field.

Educational Affairs Section (HAYAMA) Certifies the applicant's enrolled period at SOKENDAI.
*For non-regular students such as Research Student.
Academic Transcript
(Seiseki-Shomeisho)
Certifies the applicant's academic record for the courses completed at SOKENDAI.
*For Auditing Students with Credit only.
Certificate of Japanese Government Scholarship Student Student Affairs Section (HAYAMA) Certifies that the applicant is a Japanese Government Scholarship student.
*For the recipients of the said scholarship only.

*Please be advised that delivery may take some time. Applicants are requested to submit their application at least two weeks before the deadline specified by the recipient (such as an employer or public institution).

Application Form for Certificates

"Identity verification document" described include Student ID Card, Driver's License, Individual Number Card, Residence Card, and Passport, which state the name, date of birth, and address of the applicant with an identification number.

The fee should be enclosed in the form of a postal money order (fixed-amount or ordinary), or sent by Currency registration.
