Certificate Issuance Service

The Certificate Issuance Service allows students to apply for official certificates online, and receive certificates via printing, postal delivery, or online submission. The service can be accessed using a PC, smartphone, or tablet.

User Guide for Students

  • Certificates are issued free of charge.
  • For certificates issued at convenience stores, a printing fee of 60 yen per copy is required.
  • For certificates sent by mail, postage fees will apply.

Print at a Convenience Store (Japan Only)

Certificates can be printed at major convenience stores in Japan such as 7-Eleven, FamilyMart, and Lawson/Ministop. After completing payment, a print number will be sent to you by email. Enter this number at the store’s multi-function printer before the print deadline.

Online Submissionns

You to send certificates electronically to companies or institutions. Enter the recipient information and email address, and submit the application. The recipient will receive a secure link by email.

POPITA

Certificates issued at convenience stores are embedded with a digital watermark (POPITA). Copies cannot be used.
*POPITA (a digital watermark) is a registered trademark of NTT WEST, Inc.

(Note)The Ministry of Foreign Affairs may not accept certificates printed at convenience stores. If you need to submit a certificate to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, please consult the Program Office.

Certifies that the applicant is enrolled in SOKENDAI.

Certificate of Registration
(Zaiseki-Shomeisho)
Certifies that the applicant is registered as a student, but currently taking a leave of absence.
*For regular students on leave of absence
Certificate of Leave of Absence
(Kyugaku-Shomeisho)
Certifies that the applicant is taking a leave of absence.
*For regular students on leave of absence
Certificate of Expected Graduation
(Shuryo-Mikomi-Shomeisho)

Certifies that the applicant will complete a doctoral program at SOKENDAI, and be conferred a doctoral degree.

*To issue one, the following requirements must be met:
1. Expecting to complete the doctoral program within 1 year, and
2. Having enrolled in SOKENDAI for 4 years or more (5-year doctoral program) or 2 years or more (3-year doctoral program) *excluding a period of absence, and
3. Expecting to earn the required number of credits by the date of expected graduation.
Note:When submitting your application, please specify the name of the degree to be awarded and the expected month and year of completion in the “Remarks” field.

Certificate of Expected Conferment of a Master's Degree
(Shushi-Gakui-Shutoku-Mikomi-Shomeisho)
Certificates that the applicant expects to be conferred a master's degree.
*Some conditions will be applied for issuance. For details, please contact the Educational Affairs Section in Hayama.
Note:When submitting your application, please specify the name of the degree to be awarded and the expected month and year of completion in the “Remarks” field.
Certificate of Qualification for a Master's Degree
(Shushi-Gakui-Shikakusha-Shomeisho)
Certifies that the applicant has the Qualification for a Master's Degree.
*Issued only to those who have enrolled at least 2 years in the 5-year doctoral program and passed the required examination.
Certificate of Expected Withdrawal with Credit
(Tan'i-Shutoku-Taigaku-Shomeisho)
Certifies that the applicant has obtained the credits required to complete the course, and the applicant is expected to withdraw without submitting the doctoral thesis.
*Issued only to students in the final year.
Note:Before submitting your application, please either submit a “Notice of Withdrawal” to the course office or attach a document written by your academic supervisor stating your expected withdrawal date (month and year).
Certificate of Health Examination
(Kenko-Shindan-Shomeisho)
Certifies the result of the applicant's regular health examination.
*The English certificate requires longer time for issuance. Please submit your request well in advance.
Certificate of Japanese Government Scholarship Student Certifies that the applicant is a Japanese Government Scholarship student.
*For the recipients of the said scholarship only
Certificate of Receiving Monbukagakusho Honors Scholarship for Privately-Financed International Students Certifies that the applicant receives the Monbukagakusho Honors Scholarship for Privately-Financed International Students.
*For the recipients of the said scholarship only
Certificate of Enrollment for GAKKENSAI and GAKKENBAI Certifies that the applicant is enrolled in Personal Accident Insurance for Students Pursuing Education and Research (Gakkensai) and Gakkensai Futai Baishou Sekinin Hoken (Gakkenbai).

*Students who wish to receive certificates (excluding Academic Transcript and Certificate of Enrollment) by email should select “Postal Delivery” under “Issue Certificate.” When entering the mailing address information, please indicate your E-mail address in the “Remarks” field.

Certificate for Student Discount Ticket
(Gakuwarisho)
× Program Office Issued to those who purchase tickets with a student discount.
*You can purchase discounted student tickets for your trip exceeding 100 kilometers one way by Japan Railway (JR) lines.
*For regular students only.

(Note)Please complete the Application Form for Certificates and submit it at the program office counter. Once the application is received by the Educational Affairs Section (Hayama) from the program office, the required details will be confirmed and the certificate will be issued.

When applying for the issuance of certificates, you must present a valid "Identity verification document".

Acceptable "Identity verification document" include official documents that show your name, date of birth, address, and identification number, such as:

  • Driver’s license
  • My Number Card
  • Residence card
  • Passport

*For the recipients of the said scholarship only.
Certificate of Health Examination
