SOKENDAI Student Dispatch Program

About "SOKENDAI Student Dispatch Program"

This program encourages SOKENDAI students to seek a short-term research opportunity abroad and/or a long-term collaborative research project in and outside Japan that may lead to their career in the future. The program follows the educational goals of SOKENDAI, "advanced specialties and expertise," "broad perspective," and "international competitiveness," and intends to financially support such research opportunities of SOKENDAI students.

This program is divided into the following three categories, depending on the nature of the activities.

Domestic Study Away 

 Purpose  Presentation of research results at international conferences, symposiums, research meetings, and so on.  Collaborative research, investigation abroad, and so on (includes study abroad for international collaborative degree programs)  Long-term collaborative research, investigation,etc. in Japan
Period of Dispatch  Unlimited (however, the itinerary must be completed within one fiscal year)  8 days to 1 year (however, the departure date must be within the relevant fiscal year) 28 days to 1 year (however, the itinerary must be completed within one fiscal year) 
 Contents of Support   

1) Research support grant*

Notes   

・Presentations at conferences held in Japan are not eligible for the application.

・Conference presentations during the dispatch period of Category 2 or 3 are also eligible.

・The dispatch plan may include study sessions, research meetings, laboratory visits, and so on, before or after the conference.

 

・Plans to visit more than 1 country are acceptable.

・Plans that span across fiscal years and are divided into several parts are also eligible.

 

・Plans for dispatch due to the transfer of a supervisor to another institute are not eligible.

・Dispatch to Inter-University Research Institutes other than the parent institute are eligible.

・Plans that are divided into several parts are also eligible.

Where and How to Submit Application Documents

After confirmation by the supervisor, application documents should be submitted as e-mail attachments to your program (department) office.
